In 1996, I began working at the intersection of technology, business thinking, and poverty reduction. Work that was a precursor of social enterprise. In 2000, I joined Hewlett-Packard’s e-inclusion initiative, the first corporate program looking at how a company could do well financially at the same time it was having a positive impact on society. A few years later, I made the decision to move all of my own assets into alignment with my values.
After retiring from my formal career in 2017, I started writing Activate Your Money: Invest to Grow Your Wealth and Build a Better World. That book was published in May 2021. Later that year, I co-founded Invest for Better, which puts women in to small groups to learn how to invest their money into impact – starting with their cash. To date, almost 3,000 people have gone through our programs and we are working on plans to scale the initiative by making our content available to others. My book was recently published in French, Spanish, German, and Polish.
